Dr. Oladapo Adetunji

A purpose-driven research pharmacist/scientist and professional manager with a focus on achieving best global practices in healthcare research applicable towards improving patient health. Dr. Adetunji obtained his Bachelor of Pharmacy (B.Pharm) degree, Master of Science (MSc) degree in Pharmaceutics & Industrial Pharmacy, and Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree in Pharmaceutics from the Faculty of Pharmacy, University of Ibadan, Nigeria. He also completed his postdoctoral training at Roosevelt University College of Pharmacy, Illinois, USA. In 2019, Dr. Oladapo Adetunji obtained his Doctor of Pharmacy degree from the University of Benin, Benin City, Edo State, Nigeria.

Prior to joining academia, Dr. Oladapo Adetunji worked as a Field Force Pharmacist with Evans Medical PLC, Nigeria, and as a community Pharmacist with various pharmacies in Nigeria. He is a recipient of multiple awards and grants, including the UI Academic Staff research grant, and he played a core role in securing a grant from the MacArthur Foundation for the establishment of a Center for Drug Discovery, Development, and Production (CDDDP) at the University of Ibadan to improve the quality and availability of medicines in West Africa. His research interests include drug formulation and delivery systems, public health awareness on non-communicable diseases, osteoarthritis, weight loss, and the use of various modified starches and natural polymers in pharmaceutical formulations.

Dr. Oladapo Adetunji is a Senior Faculty member of the Faculty of Pharmacy, University of Ibadan. He has served as Sub Dean of the Faculty for 4 years and Head of the Department of Pharmaceutics and Industrial Pharmacy. He is currently a co-investigator of the JIGSAW-A (Joint Implementation of Guidelines for Osteoarthritis in West Africa) project, sponsored by Pfizer.
